How to Scan a QR Code from a Screenshot on iPhone or iPad
QR codes are everywhere—on restaurant menus, event tickets, and even websites. But what if you take a screenshot of a QR code and want to scan it later? Fortunately, your iPhone or iPad has built-in tools that make this process simple.
In this guide, you’ll learn how to scan a QR code from a screenshot on iPhone using the Photos app, Camera app, and Google Lens. I’ll also cover troubleshooting tips in case the QR code scanner doesn’t work properly.
Why QR Codes Are Useful on Mobile Devices
A QR code (Quick Response code) is a type of barcode that stores information like website links, app downloads, and contact details. Instead of typing a long web address, you can simply scan a QR code directly with your iPhone camera.
For seniors, QR code scanning makes it easier to:
✔ Open a website without typing
✔ Access event details or online forms
✔ Save QR codes for later use by taking a screenshot
Now, let’s walk through how to scan a QR code from a screenshot on iPhone.

- Find and open the QR code image (screenshot).
- Tap and hold the highlighted QR code in the image.
- A pop-up will appear with the linked content—tap it to open.
✔ Tip: If your iPhone does not automatically detect the QR code, try zooming in on it before tapping.

If your QR code scanner isn’t working, try these fixes:
✅ Check if “Scan QR Codes” is enabled – Go to Settings > Camera and make sure Scan QR Codes is turned ON.

✅ Increase screen brightness – A dim screen may prevent successful QR code scanning.
✅ Make sure the QR code is fully visible – The Photos app may not detect a cropped or blurry QR code image.
